On a nice sunny afternoon in Cedar Glen, CA we were able to venture to the practice space of the So Cal Blues Band 60 Grit. Filming and recording live audio

Not many bands will make a live video with live audio their promo tool. Let me just say that 60 Grit can pull it off and they do it with style.

Sangre – The Great Tribulation

It now amazes me how a kick as video can be shot at a smelly Jalapeño factory in Fontana. Southern California hard hitters Sangre hired 13 O’Clock Studios to promote their latest release “The Great Tribulation” in preparation for their upcoming tour. Unless their is no means I typically try to convince a band to come up with a story for their video especially at over 4min. However, I’d have to say that this video came out stellar considering that the video consists of only band shots.

The band has not released the video as of yet. Once they do it will be posted here!

Kaustik – Face Beneath The Fist

Kaustik invited 13 O’Clock Studios back to shoot another video for them. This was a two day shoot with a storyline. For day one we did all the band shots inside of a welding shop with a wide angle lens. The blue singing segments were shot in their trusty touring van with some blue LED lights……..no coloring afterwards.

On day two the band had secured a bar called the “Golde Brique Inn” a frequent hang out for the guys. The fight scene were shot about five miles away in an industrial park. Here’s what we came up with! Enjoy.

I had the awesome oppourtunity to work with something completly new and fresh. PrainBork a whacky, silly, infusion of metal and meat. Balancing a tightrope between Primus, Green Jelly and Suicidal Tendencies? I don’t know, but I loved taking the time to master these tracks and be in contact with Artie Bertik the ham rapist behind PrainBork.

Clepto – Marhaba

What do you get when you cross two Arabs, one Greek, one Portuguese all hailing from Canada? You get one of the most unique punk bands this side of China!?

I fell in love with Clepto back in October 2010 when my band played with them at a small bar in Cedar Glen, California. An amazing down to earth band with uniqueness in spades.

I was ecstatic when we finally decided to get together and do a video for their upcoming release. Shot in one day at their studio in Los Angeles…this is what we came up with. Enjoy!

GrimWolf – Moonshine

A full production video for the local so cal metal band GrimWolf. The band had a party for their shoot and the party footage did not make it in the final cut. So we decided to do a story line that we filmed on a second day.

The band had a friend that they thought would be perfect for the role. So they enlisted their friend Keith to play the role of the “lycan”.

The band shots were done with a wide angle almost fish eye lense due to the fact that the room they were in was very, VERY small. All the story line shots were done with a 50mm which always seems to shoot well.

The following is what came out.

Kaustik – Reign of Ruin

A fun video to shoot and to edit. So Cal hard hitters KaustiK debut their new album with a kick ass video called Reign of Ruin.

The concept was simple Metal and Girls.

The band rented out a “performance” type of a practice room in Santa Fe Springs.

This was a single day shoot…….but a long day!

The girls head-banged for a good 5 hours straight. A few of the girls almost collapsed on the last take.

Idmallion – A Short Film

Idmallion took about 9 months from start to finish…..not shooting that long but the time span from beginning to end. At the time I was under a partnership with my friend Ryan as GoodRobotz. Which is why this is a “Good Robotz Production”. I wrote, directed, shot, edited and did the effects in this short.

It was a great first attempt at shooting a short film, my first. I learned a lot of what to do and what not to do on this shoot. Overall I think it came out pretty well. Below you can see the movie……you may want to watch it at vimeo so you can see it in HD! Enjoy.
